Therapy for Overwhelmed Women and Couples in Broomfield and Online Across Colorado
Helping women who feel anxious, burnt out, or “not enough” change the patterns keeping them stuck, so they can live more fully and love more deeply without losing themselves.
On the outside, you’re functioning, but inside, it often feels like you’re barely keeping up.
When things get overwhelming, you might find yourself doomscrolling just to numb out for a bit. Or you shut down completely: scrolling, spacing out, avoiding messages or decisions because everything feels like too much.
But what you’re really avoiding in those moments is shame.
That sinking feeling that something must be wrong with you for feeling this way again.
And underneath it all is that familiar thought that hits out of nowhere:
“Why can’t I just be normal?”
Imagine finally feeling a sense of control over your life and relationships. What if, instead of dreading the day, you felt excited for it?
Hi, I’m Anna Khandrueva, LCSW.
You overthink. Then you overgive. Then you shut down, and the self-blame moves in. It feels like a loop you can’t get out of, no matter how self-aware you are.
I help women like you break this cycle with tools that bring relief without overwhelm.
In our work together, we slow things down enough for you to notice what’s happening in the moment. Not to judge it. To understand it.
And here’s what we find: the shutdown, the people-pleasing, the self-doubt spiral aren’t random. They’re protective strategies your nervous system learned a long time ago, for good reasons.
Once you see that, the harsh inner voice starts to lose its grip.
My Specialties
-
Your mind won’t stop running the what-ifs, even when you’re exhausted. Anxiety therapy helps you calm your nervous system, understand the parts of you that worry, and finally feel like you’re enough.
-
Complex trauma isn’t just one bad memory. It’s years of learning the world wasn’t safe. Healing helps you rebuild trust in your body, your feelings, and the people you let close.
-
The past may still live in your body, even when your mind wants to move on. EMDR helps your nervous system process what happened so you can feel like yourself again.
-
Part of you learned to survive by staying guarded, pleasing others, or shutting down. IFS helps you understand and heal the wounded parts beneath those patterns with compassion, not shame.
-
You may feel overwhelmed by a world that wasn’t built for your brain. Therapy helps you understand your wiring, reduce the shame, and create systems that actually support you.
-
The highs and lows can leave you feeling exhausted, misunderstood, or out of control. Therapy offers grounding, insight, and support so you can find more stability and trust yourself again.
-
You may love each other deeply and still feel stuck in cycles of misunderstanding. Therapy helps you communicate more clearly, honor each other’s differences, and reconnect with compassion.
-
When trauma, depression, or anxiety keep you feeling trapped in the same painful patterns, it can be hard to imagine another way forward. Ketamine-assisted therapy can help create space for healing, new perspective, and lasting emotional relief.
If you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help, it’s not your fault.
Many women I work with felt dismissed or squeezed into an approach that didn’t fit how their brain works.
I work with your brain, not against it. Using attachment-focused EMDR and IFS (Internal Family Systems), we make sense of why you respond the way you do.
Because therapy shouldn’t make you feel like you’re the problem. It should help you stop fighting yourself.
If you’re thinking “yeah, but…,” let’s address those thoughts.
-
When life feels chaotic, adding one more thing can feel impossible. But therapy can help create more ease, clarity, and breathing room in your life, not more pressure. Think of it as support that helps lighten the load you’ve been carrying alone.
-
You are not broken. And you are not “too much.” The patterns you’re struggling with likely developed for a reason: to protect you, help you cope, or help you survive. Together, we’ll make sense of those patterns with compassion so you can begin to heal.
-
That fear makes sense. Therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve spent a long time holding it all together. We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. You won’t be pushed into anything before you’re ready.
-
You may be used to being the strong one – the one who holds it all together. But needing support doesn’t mean you’re weak. Self-awareness is powerful, but having guidance can help you create the deeper changes that are hard to make alone.
-
If you’re used to putting everyone else first, investing in yourself can feel uncomfortable. But your healing matters, too. You are worthy of support, care, and a space that’s just for you.
Imagine what life could look like if you started this journey today…
You begin to pause instead of spiral. You start to recognize your needs earlier, instead of only noticing them once you’re already overwhelmed or resentful. You find your voice again in relationships, without overexplaining, apologizing, or disappearing to keep the peace.
And slowly, that question – “Why can’t I just be normal?” – starts to lose its weight.
It gets replaced with something far more honest and far more freeing:
“Oh… I’m not broken. I’m just wired to protect myself in ways I didn’t realize anymore.”
The goal isn’t to become less sensitive, less emotional, or less you.
It’s to help you stay connected to yourself even when shame shows up, so you can move through your relationships and your life without abandoning yourself in the process.

Confidentiality & Privacy
When you self-pay, your therapeutic work stays fully between you and your therapist. Using insurance means the insurance company has access to your diagnosis, treatment plan, and clinical notes. Many clients prefer to keep their healing journey completely private, and self-paying allows for that.Freedom to Choose the Right Therapist
I specialize in trauma-focused care because it requires advanced training, ongoing consultation, and a deep level of attunement. Self-pay allows you to work with a therapist who offers highly individualized, specialized support – not someone assigned based on a provider list.No Required Diagnosis
Insurance companies typically require a mental health diagnosis in order to pay for therapy. Sometimes a diagnosis isn’t clinically appropriate, or a client may not want one attached to their permanent medical record. Self-pay lets us focus on healing, not labels.Flexible Scheduling & Session Style
Therapists who are not tied to insurance can often offer more creative and flexible options: longer sessions, intensive sessions, walking or outdoor therapy, evening availability, or virtual care. With self-pay, we decide together what supports you best.Full Control Over Your Treatment
Insurance can come with rules: how often you can come, how long therapy should last, and what type of work is allowed. When you self-pay, we get to shape the process based on your goals, your pace, and your nervous system, not an insurance timeline.Clarity & Simplicity
Insurance doesn’t always cover the full cost of therapy, and many plans limit the number of sessions. For some, paying out of pocket ends up being more straightforward and predictable: no surprise bills, no denied claims, and no waiting for approval. -
There are limited spots for people who would like a reduced fee. I assign them on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to inquire about a reduced fee, please email me at anna@couragetohealtherapy.com.

A superbill is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company if you’d like to request reimbursement for therapy you’ve already paid for. In order for a superbill to be accepted, it must include a mental health diagnosis code—meaning that a diagnosis will become part of your permanent medical record.
I am an out-of-network provider and do not contract directly with insurance companies, so reimbursement is handled between you and your insurer.
-
It’s always a good idea to check directly with your insurance company to understand what they will and won’t reimburse. Most insurers offer an online portal where you can review the details of your plan. You’ll want to look specifically at your out-of-network benefits, which may include a deductible you need to meet first, as well as the percentage they will reimburse per session.
Every insurance plan is different, so it’s best to confirm the details with your provider before beginning therapy.
